I have lived in Rutland since 1965 and farmed with my wife Jane and daughter Emma. I am a practical, no nonsense countryman and have represented Rutland at a national level at the British Wool Marketing Board, NFU and Countryside Alliance. I am currently an active local co-ordinator of Rutland Countrywatch, which helps with crime prevention in our villages and on our farms. I have been a councillor for twelve years and represented the Braunston with Belton Ward for 8 years. Due to boundary changes, I represent, with Edward Baines the new Braunston and Martinsthorpe ward which joins the wards of Martinsthorpe and Braunston with Belton to become the largest geographical ward in Rutland.
I will be campaigning to help our young people have the opportunity to buy a home in Rutland, find employment here and thrive in our County. Having served on the planning committee, I support appropriate development such as that at Rosewood Close, North Luffenham, which is a great example of a settlement which compliments the local village without overdevelopment.
As your Councillor, I will continue to be a strong voice on your behalf at our County Council.
