Our Fighting Fund for 2021 is now open. We have kick-started the fund this year as we are facing two sets of elections; firstly, the Police and Crime Commissioner elections and secondly, in Leicestershire we have a full set of County Council elections too.
Due to COVID-19 and the update to the rules around elections, it means that this year, more than ever, we will be relying on our members to help us to raise the essential funds needed to fight these campaigns.
The Police and Crime Commissioner elections are due to take place in May, having already been postponed for a year, with our excellent candidate Rupert Matthews. He is looking to win back the seat from the Labour Party and put our communities back at the heart of policing. He really does understand the policing needs of our local communities.
In Leicestershire, we are working hard to retain control of the County Council and we have five excellent, hard working and dedicated candidates who will be standing up for local resident's interests.
This year, electioneering will look completely different to normal. Leaflet delivery and door to door canvassing will be reduced in order to keep our volunteers and members safe during this time. This is why we are asking you to help us fund these elections;
£20 will pay for 1,000 phone calls to residents to hear their views and concerns
£50 will pay for 3,000 surveys of local residents
£150 will pay for us to deliver a leaflet to every house in one of our County Divisions
